As noted earlier, there is an historic storm off the coast with pressures lower than any previous.

Depending on the track of the storm, this could cause major impact in our area.

As a caution, please be prepared for power, and consequently, water outages.  The district advises that sometime before the storm hits that folks fill their bath tubs in order to have water available for toilet flushing in addition to the emergency supplies of water everyone should always have on hand.

If everyone cuts back water usage to the bare minimum in the event of a power outage there is sufficient storage in our reservoirs for about 12 hours (based on experience) of water to all but the highest elevations.  Folks on Reynvaan and Hirschbeck Heights will lose pressure almost immediately.

Be aware, that if your on-site sewage system is a pressure system, those pumps will not work either.

If water pressure does drop, be sure and turn off the circuit breaker to your hot water heater.  Don’t turn it back on until you have flowing water.

We will be watching events all weekend and have staff on hand to do what we can do to keep the water flowing.
