Grays Harbor County Water District #2 – About Us

Grays Harbor County Water District #2 is a special purpose district of Grays Harbor County, Washington State, providing domestic water service to approximately 3,600 residents in Central Park.

The community is located between Montesano, Washington, and Aberdeen, Washington.  Many people, on their way to the coast, pass through Central Park on Highway 12 without even knowing it.

The earliest minutes in the records are dated March 7, 1946.  The actual construction of the water system commenced in the Spring of 1959.

The District staff includes three Commissioners elected by the community, a General Manager, a District Clerk/Office Manager, and two Field Technicians.

The District is served by two wells, Numbers 5 and 6.   Wells 1 through 4 are all abandoned.  Both wells are equipped with line shaft turbine pumps.  Well #5 has a 125 hp motor, Well #6 has 75 hp motor.  Well #5 pumps about 1,025 gallons per minute.  Well #6 delivers about 725 gallons per minute.

There are four reservoirs totaling 670,000 gallons of storage and providing the primary pressure to the community.   The Reynvaan Reservoir was built in 1960, North Bank in 1963 and the two Clemons Reservoirs in 2009.

There are three booster stations.  The booster stations serve Reynvaan Drive, Hirschbeck Heights,  the new LeMay facility, and the Montesano Readiness Center (Armory).

Water is distributed throughout the community by approximately 175,500 feet of water mains.  About 66% of the piping is asbestos cement.  The remainder is a mix of C-900 PVC, cast iron, and ductile iron.  There are 175 fire hydrants distributed throughout the community.

The system is disinfected using continuous injection sodium hypochlorite.  There is no other treatment applied.
